System Monitoring, Alerting and Reporting.

Outline:

Within a year, USC have progressed system administration from quite lengthy log or database interrogation and a very reactive procedure for incidents, to a point where we have instant alerting of unforeseen incidents which occur and a Google-type search interface for log events.

The creation and deployment of dashboards has significantly decreased incident response time, allowing us to see a quick snapshot across the entire environment at the click of a button.

We have also successfully trialled self-healing incident recovery, opening a new world in terms of system administration.
