Unity3D - Character Rigging and Object Snapping

To date I have not been concentrating on a project as such in Unity, however I have been toying around with a large variety of different things, different themes and different game types. The below footage was from a sandpit style game I spawned up as a Unity project, to build a character, fully rigged and animated, with the ability for them to carry weapons and other items.

For the models I create, I use Autodesk Maya, the animations were found for free on the Unity asset store, the packs mentioned here look very interesting aswell, but I have not tried any of them yet.

The result is the brick man below, the first video showing him carrying a sword and a backpack.

This was then extended on, I created a little shield and a helmet for my brick soldiers, and sent them off on a march across the sand.

My intention is to use what has been created above as a base for all characters.
